Digging Projects

Cremetorium Pot (AKA Crem)

Situated in a significant Shakehole not far from Long Rake Mine, (200m deep) on Bradwell Moor, Crem has been dug for over 50 years! It is a site with good potential. The dig involves winching spoil out to the surface using Norman Flux’s bicycle winch.

Mark Brown co-ordinates the dig. Regular digging trips throughout the winter period. Closes for lambing in the spring.

Pindale

Pindale Cave is in Pindale quarry and is almost certainly associated
with the nearby Black Rabbit Cave.  It had been dug during the 80/90s
by members of the TSG, but progress was hard going and the dig ended
at a muddy pool.

Motivated by John Cordingley diving in Peak Cavern Dan decided to
raise a team to go and look at Pindale Cave (2007?) again.  They
enlarged the dug passage to hands and knees crawling size and were
able to make progress due to the advent of Hilti caps and SDS battery
drills.  The team broke through into new passage ~20m from the
entrance which appeared to be a cross cut, named Tits and Destiny.
Sadly  the way on remained mud filled.

Since then the way on has involved excavating a mud fill and removing
boulders.  Of the last year the dig seems to have become influenced by
a scrin at the end of Dirtlow rake which has resulted in a somewhat
shattered roof – I can testify that the boulders are very heavy when
they drop from the roof onto your head!  Pindale does tend to be a
muddy poo mine and everything ends up coated in a thick layer of
glutinous mud by the end of the trip……..

Prospects are looking good, three more trips………..

Regular digging trips organised by Dan Sullivan and Ben Stevens

Tim Webber sometimes goes to this, the time between trips reflects the time it takes him to forget how unpleasant the place is.
Flat out digging in a body sized tube mostly full of mud with a small gap over the top, all while laying in water. Contact Tim Webber if you want to go.

Stoney Middleton

Andy Chapman, Jon Pemberton, Dave Brown and James Rhodes are digging somewhere in Stoney or Lathkill Dale most nights of the week.
Normally somewhere tight and squalid which no-one is ever gonna venture down. We’ll keep pushing these leads in Dynamite series though. People who have had too much for tea or have a fear of badgers need not apply.
